On January 25, the Detroit branch of the ATF staged an operation to seize armaments amassed by a local militia known as the "Liberty Lions."
But, something unexpected happened. Despite the ATF's intel, and resources, the Lions were prepared and launched a counter-offensive. This led to a long night of fighting. By the time the sun rose, the Governor declared a state of emergency.
In the following weeks, the violence escalated, and Palmyra began being evacuated. There was a tense standstill while civilians were bussed out of the city by the National Guard. But, this peace didn't last. This time, the Liberty Lions struck, dealing high casualties to both the ATF and local law enforcement.
The violence would have gone on like this, one side attacking the other, until the militia was wiped out (given their small numbers, and finite resources) but instead, something strange happened. There was some chatter online about a "Flash," and then the city was quarantined, and all evacuations were ceased.
The National Guard, who had been facilitating all evacuation efforts, now started constructing barricades along the peninsula and turned back all fleeing people. Permanent FEMA camps were set up to treat civilians stuck within the conflict, but as of March 12, Palmyra was declared an active war zone.
Now there is a thirty-five-mile perimeter around the peninsula, and a total communication blackout. It's obvious the government doesn't want anything coming in, or going out...
But that's where we come in. Myself, and a couple of volunteers have received images, videos, voice recordings, and more from within Palmyra. The glances are small and quick, but we hope we can shine a light on what's really happening within the American Abyss.
